Dwarf artistes reach out to Salman Khan and Sonu Sood for support

The pandemic and the lockdown have changed everyone’s lives in the past one year. Several people have gone out of job due to the lockdown and are finding it difficult to make ends meet. Our film industry has majorly been hit by this pandemic where junior artistes, background dancers, make-up crew, spot dadas and several others have severely been affected by the pandemic and have reached out to Bollywood stars for support.

Today in a report by Times of India, we hear that dwarf artistes have reached out to Sonu Sood and Salman Khan for help. Dwarf artistes have been out of work ever since the first lockdown as the film shoots have declined and now there are not many opportunities. Dipak Soni – a dwarf artist who has worked with the likes of Akshay Kumar spoke to TOI and said that he did reach out to Sonu Sood’s office and sought help, "I did reach out to Sonu Sood and got a call from his office but they thought I wanted help but I told them my colleagues needed it and if can be done and I am waiting from their support. Another colleague of mine has spoken to Salman Khan's Being Human Foundation; we are now awaiting a reply for the same. Although about 8 to 10 members receive Rs 1500 from them,” he said.

Sonu had also reached out to Aarif Khan of Lookalike Association. Aarif Khan had organized ration kits for almost 35 dwarf artistes who live in Mumbai. Aarif spoke to the daily too and said how he managed to get ration kits for the dwarfs. "Actor Raju Srivastav and Suhail Khandwani, who is the trustee of Haji Ali and Mahim Dargah provided us with ration kits which we distributed to dwarf artistes.”

Dipak Soni reveals that there are almost 70 dwarf artistes in Mumbai and all of them do not come from established families or supported by their families financially. Let's hope that work life resumes soon for them and our stars can help them out in these tough times.
