Huma Qureshi has had two releases this year. She made her Hollywood debut with Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead but the project which has earned her the most praise has been Maharani which is available on a popular streaming platform. In this show, she plays the role of Rani Bharti, the wife of Bihar’s chief minister who is forced into becoming the CM after her husband resigns from the post. Speaking about the role, she says: "My fans are my motivation, they are what drives me to push myself each and every day because I don't want to let them down. All I want is them to be proud of me. I want to thank them all for the wonderful messages of encouragement and appreciation. They are my biggest strength.”
"I am very lucky that I have been directed by some of the best directors be it films or OTT. Today, OTT is the new mainstream as lots of web-series with no big cast or budget are doing well and that is all because of content. And I am always open to challenging roles like Rani Bharti of Maharani. My brother has kept my name as Maharani at home. He keeps calling me by that name. My parents were quite surprised after seeing me onscreen as Rani Bharti. I have received quite diverse reactions from my loved ones,” she adds.
Recently, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha also praised her. In a series of tweets, Sinha showered praise on Qureshi by calling her the 'Magic queen'. “The real surprise, or shall I say the icing on the cake, is the charming, attractive, adorable @humasqureshi who has created magic, shinning right through her talent & personality in totality. She is in absolute sync with the character & it's portrayal, having the potential of becoming a role model for other artists. A gripping & engrossing series, which I personally would put 'Maharani in the category of must watch! Once again (sic),” he tweeted.
