Veteran Bengali actress Swatilekha Sengupta died at a hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday afternoon. She died after a long battle with kidney ailments. Swatilekha Sengupta was 71 years old and is now survived by husband Rudraprasad Sengupta and daughter Sohini.
Her daughter Sohini told a news agency that Swatilekha was undergoing treatment at the private hospital for the last 24 days after being admitted there with renal problems. She died around 3 pm this afternoon. She was most adored for her performance in Satyajit Ray's Ghare Baire for the portrayal of Bimala. Our condolences are with the family of the deceased. RIP!
