Vidya Balan says that in each of the households in India thereâs a Sherni

Whether it's in theatres or on OTT, when Vidya Balan headlines a project, audiences are immediately curious to watch it. The trailer of her upcoming film Sherni, directed by Amit Masurkar (Newton fame) had the audience gasping for more as it showed Vidya Balan as an upright forest officer.

During a virtual press conference, she spoke to a leading daily and gave some insights to her character Sherni and how her role is about every woman. “You don't need to roar to be a tigress. There are various shades, reflections of 'sherni' (tigress) that each of us represents. My character is a woman of few words, reserved but strong-willed. So you can be that,” said the actress.

She further adds, “You don't have to scream out loud from the rooftops to be heard all the time or even be visible all the time. In each of the households in India, there's a 'sherni' and a lot of times she's invisible. This is my salute to all of them out there.” Now that’s a strong feminist message alright. Kudos to her for sharing that.

Vidya Balan had shot for Sherni last year post the lockdown. The film will soon stream on an OTT platform and the actress is busy with its virtual promotions. Vidya’s last film Shakuntala Devi too was an OTT release and she had left everyone amazed with her performance as the great mathematician.
