It is not often that we hear about the charitable work done by actors like Amitabh Bachchan because they choose to keep it private. However, in the face of incessant trolling and online criticism for allegedly not doing enough during the COVID-19 crisis, Bachchan was forced to reveal his charitable efforts on his blog recently. The actor wrote that he had sent migrant workers home and paid off farmers' loans but he'd done that in private. Bachchan had also donated Rs 2 crore to a COVID facility in Delhi and arranged for oxygen concentrators. Now, the veteran actor has come together with filmmaker Anand Pandit to create a 25-bed COVID-19 facility in Juhu. "@SrBachchan and @anandpandit63 collaborate to get a 25-bed COVID-19 facility ready in Juhu, Mumbai. Each bed to have oxygen supply. Facility opens today," tweeted trade analyst Komal Nahta.
Earlier today, the BMC had also thanked the actor for his contribution of six ventilators to the corporation. "In this battle against this virus, many have contributed and continue to be resolved in more ... The mention in the information circles resounds with the 2 cr that I donated for the care centre in Delhi for the moment ... but as days go by the figure of my personal contribution and donation shall be about 15 crore rupees,” he had written on his blog earlier. "Of course such figures are beyond my means , but I work and labour and resolve to dig into my earnings for those that need it most and with the kindness of the Almighty have been able to give this amount,” he added.
