Akshay Kumars digital debut to start production soon confirms producer

Producer Vikram Malhotra has said that actor Akshay Kumar's digital debut, The End, is likely to start production by the end of this year or in early 2022. The action thriller which will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video was first announced in 2019. Akshay Kumar was supposedly paid Rs 90 crore for the series, the highest amount ever paid to any actor for an Indian web series. But with all other productions, this one was also delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Vikram Malhotra spoke about The End during a promotional event for Vidya Balan's Sherni which is also backed by his Abundantia Entertainment. Abundantia Entertainment had previously produced the thriller series Breathe and the Bhumi Pednekar starrer Durgamati.

"Creators like us look for platforms that become homes and understand our sensibilities and creative efforts. We found a warm home in Amazon Prime Video. Apart from Breathe, there are other series in development like Hush Hush, which is in the middle of the production. We had to pause it because of the pandemic. There's a show called The End, featuring Akshay Kumar. It is set to start later this year or early next year, depending on how the situation is," Malhotra said. Kumar's The End is reportedly set in the future and is some sort of a survival thriller.
