In these uncertain times, bringing a smile to people's faces is something which is truly a golden gesture. Amitabh Bachchan’s lookalike Shashikant Pedwal is one of them who has taken up this big job to bring a smile and spread joy among COVID-19 patients. Today ETimes does an exclusive report on Shashikant Pedwal where we see the man chatting with COVID-19 patients virtually and entertaining them. To begin this task he first started getting in touch with private hospitals but it was difficult for him to seek permissions. He then decided to get in touch with government hospitals so that he can meet and chat up with the patients. “I then decided to go to a government hospital, but even there it took a little too long, as I needed one of the staffers to help me connect with the patients and also needed them to record the sessions,” said to ETimes.
He further adds about his selfless work and says, “I needed to do this and mind you I do this for free and it is my duty towards the society. If I can help any one person and help him or her come out of the situation, my purpose is served. Yeh samay dua kamane ka hai (this is the time to earn some blessings).”
He further says that they are happy to see him and he doesn’t feel the need to tell them about his real identity… and even if their family knows about him, they don’t reveal it to the patient. They are always happy with his interaction. Now that’s indeed the sweetest thing we have heard.
Shashikant is a teacher by profession and has been performing stage shows as Amitabh Bachchan for over 12 years. He also does social work and is often invited to meet cancer patients, to give them hope.
