It’s that time of the year again when photographer Dabboo Ratnani releases his annual calendar featuring some of Bollywood’s top celebrities. An industry veteran, Ratnani has been hosting Instagram lives with his subjects and revealing the final product on his Instagram pages. So far, he’s shared images of Tara Sutaria, Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday, Vijay Deverakonda and others. Now, in an interview, the photographer has spoken about how his portfolio shots of Hrithik Roshan landed the actor his debut film, Kaho Na…Pyaar Hai.
"I shot Hrithik's first portfolio, before Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai. He got the movie because of my portfolio. His dad actually called me and said 'aapki photos dekhi maine (I saw your photos) and I've decided to make a movie with my son.' He told me always stay honest with people. From that time till now, our last shoot together, him and all these actors who've been in the film industry know when someone is fake,” he said. Roshan’s debut in Kaho Na…Pyaar Hai shot him into the celebrity stratosphere and created a “Hrithik mania” of sorts. His celebrity status was instant and immense and he has maintained his standing in the film industry even after two decades. At the 2021 Filmfare Awards, the actor also performed to his hit numbers from the past 20 years.
