Here are the new-normal rules as theatres reopen in Maharashtra

Cinema owners can finally heave a breath of relief as Maharashtra is all set to reopen theatres and multiplexes this October 22. As cinemas gear up for their revival, there are some important guidelines that need to be followed for the viewing public and as well as for cinema owners.

Cinema hall

Firstly theatres will reopen with only 50 per cent occupancy. The other standard operating procedure (SOPs) include guidelines like distancing of at least 6 feet to be maintained in common areas in the theatres. Cinegoers will be asked to maintain personal hygiene and follow basic hygiene during sneezing or coughing in cinema halls. A mask will be mandatory at all times. Hand sanitizers will be provided at the entry and exit points.

To enter the cinema hall, Arogya Setu App showing their status will be mandatory or COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate should be shown. Staff members and viewers both will have to be fully vaccinated. Other guidelines also include markers at the ticketing queue, making sure there is enough time between screenings to avoid crowds, and no food or drinks from outside can be carried in the theatres.

Let’s hope that this reopening of cinemas brings normalcy back to the theatre owners and removes the dull spell that the pandemic had created. Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif remains to be one of the first films that will hit the screens with this reopening, and it happens to be a Diwali release.
