But that’s not it, one thing we have seen time and again in movies produced by Dharma is short cameos in chartbuster songs. Karan Johar started the trend as a superstition to have Kajol in all her films, but it’s become an unsaid trend in his movies now.

1 Maahi Ve from Kal Ho Na Ho
The movie was a tragic love triangle between Shah Rukh Khan, Priety Zinta and Saif Ali Khan. Amongst several hit songs in this album, Maahi Ve is one song that no wedding, even today, is complete without. Making short and sexy appearances in this song were Rani Mukerji and Kajol who grooved with Shah Rukh for a short time but gave us a major throwback to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
2. Rock ‘n Roll from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
Karan Johar considered Kajol a lucky charm through most of his career and if he directs a film, she has to, in some way be a part of it. Making sure he lives up to that tradition in this family drama, Kajol made a short appearance in the song Rock ‘n Roll and grooved with Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan.
3. Where’s the Party Tonight from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
Another song from this Karan Johar directorial, Where’s the Party Tonight had Preity Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan let loose in a club where the hunky John Abraham was the DJ. Isn’t that a short and sweet cameo, for a film?
4. The Disco Song from Student of the Year
Karan Johar again directed a film after a long time and Kajol sure was there to support him as his lucky charm. Making an appearance in the cool and hep Disco Song, she grooved with then new comers, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra.
5. The Break-Up song from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Years later, when Karan Johar sat on the seat of the director again for this love story with Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, he got Alia Bhatt to do a little cameo as a DJ in a silent club who plays the Break-Up song for Anushka at a party.
6. Aankh Marey from Simmba
This has to be the biggest chartbuster of 2018 because months later, we are still tapping to its beats. While Sara Ali Khan and Ranveer Singh grooved to this remix, the whole team of Golmaal, including Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu made an appearance in the song. Special mention to Arshad Warsi who was the actor the original Aankh Marey was picturised on.
7. The Hook Up song from Student of the Year 2
This is going to be the millennial anthem of the year and who better than youth icon Alia Bhatt to dance to its beats. Sharing the screen with Tiger Shroff, Alia, who was a part of the first installment of the film, will make an appearance. That’s not all, rumour has it, Will Smith will also be seen in a song from the film that has not been revealed yet.
